"Recognition means responsibility" - David A Jones receives FLCM

At the LCME Diploma Graduation 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, David A Jones, Director of Presto Music School, was honoured with the Fellowship of the London College of Music (FLCM) — the highest recognition awarded by the London College of Music.

The Fellowship recognises long-term contribution to music education, with particular focus on creative, holistic, and progressive curriculum design.

For David, the moment was one of reflection as much as celebration.

"Titles do not matter unless they translate into better teaching," he said. "Recognition means responsibility."

Conversations during the graduation and surrounding events with educators from across the world reinforced what David describes as a clear and consistent truth about how students develop.

"Music is not learned in isolation, Students grow faster when they learn together. They listen more, adapt more, and develop real musical awareness through shared experience. Confidence builds naturally. Motivation becomes internal. Progress becomes visible."

This thinking sits at the heart of the approach at Presto Music School, where group learning is delivered alongside individual study with structure, clarity and purpose.

"Our students do not wait years to experience music with others. They start that way," David adds. "For most students, music education works best when it is collaborative. Always has been. Always will be."

Reflecting on what global recognition means in practice, David sees it as a starting point rather than a destination. "What matters more is what it demands next. Higher standards. Better teaching. Stronger outcomes for every student."

LCME congratulates David on his Fellowship and thanks him for his continued contribution to music education.
