Türkiye's music education sector is expanding, with new centres opening and more teachers looking for internationally recognised qualifications for their students. Ali Şaylan is supporting that growth as LCME's regional manager for Türkiye.

From the piano to publishing

Ali's connection to music came first. “I am a classically trained amateur pianist," he says. That background, alongside 15 years in digital marketing, led him to found notacini.com, an online sheet music retailer and publisher serving the Turkish market. "I have been actively managing its operations for the past 10 years," he says, seeing him working directly with exam boards, music schools, teachers and students across the country.

"My expertise with board exams eventually led me to be in contact with the LCME management team," he recalls. As regional manager, he now supports the schools registered as LCME exam centres across Türkiye.

A growing market

"Türkiye's music education scene is a growing market, with new centres opening and registering to examination boards,” Ali says. “And the demand for musical education is increasing every year.”

That growth brings new demands, particularly with the return of face-to-face exams in the region. “Managing schools registered as LCME centres has become a necessity, especially with the re-introduction of face-to-face exams that are to be hosted twice each year,” he says.

Alongside music, Ali brings a technical side to the role. “I spend my time learning and building AI-based tools to track and manage business-related projects,” he says, an approach he applies to keeping centres organised and supported as the network grows.

Looking ahead

A few months into the role, Ali is already clear about what he wants to achieve. “I believe we have room for improvements to make LCME an even better experience for schools, teachers and students in Türkiye,” he says.
