LCME partners with UK Music Teachers

London College of Music Examinations (LCME) has partnered with UK Music Teachers, an online directory where parents and students search for a music teacher by instrument and location.

The partnership gives UK-based LCME teachers a new way to be found by new students. Teachers can create a profile on UK Music Teachers and receive enquiries directly from students and parents. There are no referral fees.

For parents and students, UK Music Teachers makes it easier to find a teacher who can prepare them for LCME exams.

The partnership also replaces the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) membership scheme. The RGT “Find a tutor” directory will redirect to UK Music Teachers over the coming months. RGT members have been contacted directly about the change and how to sign up, and RGT teaching resources are now available on the LCME website.

Ben Norbury, Director of Exams at LCME, said: “Teachers and music tutors tell us that finding new students is one of the hardest parts of their jobs. This partnership gives them a platform built for exactly that, and it helps parents find teachers who can take their children through recognised qualifications.”

UK Music Teachers is run by Global Music Teachers, which operates teacher directories in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada.

Although the partnership is launching in the UK, the plan is to expand to other countries in the future, including New Zealand.

The partnership gives teachers who enter candidates for LCME exams a place to be found. It also helps parents find teachers who prepare students for LCME exams.

For RGT members

The RGT membership scheme has closed. It is being replaced by the partnership with UK Music Teachers.

RGT members have been emailed an introductory offer. If you are an RGT member and have not received it, please check your junk folder or contact us.

The RGT "Find a tutor" directory is still live for now. Over the coming months, its pages will redirect to UK Music Teachers, so that people looking for a guitar teacher find the new platform.

For now, nothing changes. Enter candidates for Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Rock Guitar and Ukulele exams in the normal way.

In 2027 we are introducing some improvements and changes to how candidates enter exams. Join our mailing list to stay up to date.

RGT teaching resources are now on the LCME website, alongside our qualifications, syllabuses and support materials.

The RGT diploma discount scheme will end by July 2027.

If you are preparing for a diploma now, or plan to start one in the next 12 months, please contact us. We will help you use the discount during the transition.

RGT renewals were paused in August and no renewal payments have been taken. If you think you have been charged, please contact us.
