Performance an important update
Performance pieces from other regulated examination boards
As you may be aware, LCME has been accepting performance pieces from other regulated examination boards from the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This well-intentioned policy has been widely celebrated for encouraging continuity in education when the availability of music exams faced severe challenges.
However, as many of the constrictions of the pandemic have now ended in the UK and further afield, it is imperative that LCME returns to the precise boundaries set by its syllabi.
As such, after 30 September 2022, LCME will not be accepting performance pieces from the current syllabi of other regulated examination boards.
This will apply to digital exams taken from 01 October and for in-person exams sat in the Winter 2022 session.
LCME invests considerably in its curricula, and the board must ensure that the music chosen for inclusion in its highly varied syllabi receives the attention it deserves.
