Graduation ceremony returns in Bali

Saturday 2 December 2023, marked the triumphant return of the London College of Music Examinations (LCME) Asia, Africa, and Oceania graduation ceremony, the first since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Held at the prestigious Bali International Convention Centre in Indonesia, the event welcomed over 116 graduates from Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Europe who had obtained an LCME Diploma between 2017 and 2023. World-renowned composer, arranger and conductor from the Philippines, Joy Tavas Nilo also received an honorary degree.

The ceremony was organised by the LCME Representative for Jakarta and the Philippines, Big Ben International Academy Jakarta, under the leadership of David Emmanuel Cadlum Saraza.

Mr. Saraza noted the significance of the occasion. "This graduation ceremony symbolises not only the achievements of LCME candidates but also the resilience and togetherness of our global community," he said. "Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic over the last few years, those receiving their awards have shown remarkable determination and passion for music and the creative arts. Today, we honour their commitment and recognise their amazing achievements."

The UK Government officially regulates LCME certificates, and LCME is the only British examination board that is part of a UK university (University of West London).

Along with over 130 family members and friends of those receiving their awards, guests in attendance included University of West London President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter John CBE, LCME Ambassador Professor John Howard, LCME Head of Exams Ben Norbury, LCME Chief Examiner in Music Hugh Sutton, plus LCME Examiners Dr Chris Marlow and Wei Wong.

LCME would like to extend its warmest congratulations to all our graduates who attended and take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this landmark event possible.
