Vocal coach Ashley Fulton receives MBE at Windsor Castle

London College of Music Examinations (LCME) congratulates Ashley Fulton on being honoured with Membership of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) at a ceremony at Windsor Castle on 17th April 2024.

Fulton, a vocal coach and musical director based in Northern Ireland, was named in the 2024 New Year's Honours List for his work developing musical talent across the region over his nearly 25-year career. He said, "This award is not just a reflection of my journey in music but a testament to the incredible talents and dedication of the individuals I've had the privilege to work with. Music has the power to unite, inspire, and transform, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its lifeblood in Northern Ireland.

“This MBE is absolutely a shared celebration with every student, colleague, and collaborator who has been a part of my remarkable musical journey.”

His achievements in numbers

Fulton's dedication to musical education is reflected in his track record:

  • 490 students coached to success in LCME Musical Theatre and Classical Singing Diplomas
  • Close to 3,000 students earning distinctions in graded LCME exams
  • 97 pupils auditioned into elite schools like the Royal Academy of Music and Italia Conti

Celebrated alumni like Emily Dunwoody (Les Misérables) and Russell Dickson (Wicked The Musical UK Tour) credit Fulton's mentorship with helping them achieve West End breakthroughs. In addition to his work with individual students, Fulton is the artistic director of Adoro, a choir formed from his pool of talented vocalists.

"Ashley's impact on our candidates and music education has been transformative," said Ben Norbury, Head of Exams at LCME. "This MBE is a well-deserved honour recognising his lifelong commitment to developing performance excellence."

LCME warmly congratulates Fulton on officially receiving this prestigious accolade at Windsor Castle. His work has inspired generations and left a mark on the arts in Northern Ireland.
