UCAS tariff points: Music

UCAS tariff points are awarded to students attaining LCME Advanced Level music qualifications (grades 6, 7, and 8), in both practical and theory subjects.

For Higher Education music courses in the United Kingdom (UK), practical music grades have always been an important factor in the application process. With the introduction of these qualifications to the UCAS tariff, the values of music education are recognised across all subject areas. Admissions staff at UK universities often look favourably on students with practical music exam qualifications, as they indicate motivation, self-discipline and organisational skills.

The table below sets out the points allocated to LCME music examinations:

Do you hold an LCME Grade 8 or higher in a relevant discipline?

Did you know that you can apply to an undergraduate course at the London College of Music (LCM) with no audition required if you hold an LCME Grade 8 or higher? Just remember, you'll still need to meet the course’s UCAS Tariff requirements.

And if you already hold an LCME Diploma (DipLCM or higher) you can apply to LCM postgraduate programs without an audition.
