Perform live and show what you can do
There is nothing quite like a live performance. In-person exams allow you to perform in front of a qualified LCME examiner, gain valuable feedback and earn recognised qualifications that open doors to higher education and the creative industries.

Already registered as a private exam centre?
You can make your entries using our online entry form (if you have many candidates) or via ERIC.
Alternatively, you can follow the steps below to apply to become an LCME private exam centre.
Become a private exam centre
If you work in a school, music centre, or any organisation with multiple students, you can arrange for an LCME examiner to come to your venue. It’s a convenient way to organise your exam sessions to suit your needs and those of your students.
1. Complete the application form
Please fill in the private exam centre form. We will review your submission and confirm if you meet the eligibility criteria.
2. Discuss your requirements
We will contact you directly to discuss your requirements and assist you with planning your exam day(s).
3. Book your exam session
For exam days during the main exam periods, entries must be submitted by the published closing date. Exams are held in spring, summer and winter sessions (view session dates). For sessions outside these main exam periods, please provide us with at least 6 weeks' notice.
Book at a public exam centre in the UK or the Republic of Ireland
Whether you're a student, parent, teacher or experienced musician, you can book an in-person exam at one of our public exam centres. Perform in front of an LCME examiner and take the next step in your performance journey.
1. Find your nearest exam centre
We have public exam centres across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Find your nearest centre to explore local exam dates and get contact details for your local LCME centre manager.
2. Book your exam
Use our online booking system, ERIC, to book your exam. Exams are organised into spring, summer and winter sessions (view session dates).
You can also enter via your local LCME centre manager if you prefer.
Taking a guitar or ukulele exam? For Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Rock Guitar and Ukulele exams, please book through the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) website instead of ERIC.
