Safeguarding
Safeguarding at London College of Music Examinations
London College of Music Examinations (LCME) takes its obligations to provide a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for all candidates very seriously.
We are conscious that while candidates are taking LCME exams, the University of West London has a duty of care towards them. That duty of care is principally invested in the examiner, but also centre stewards and other staff. All examiners understand the importance of ensuring that the exam room is a safe space in which candidates should feel comfortable, relaxed, and able to perform to their best, and where there is no risk of harm. Examiners will always treat candidates and those accompanying them with courtesy and respect.
All examiners have an up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and have undergone safeguarding training. They are aware of their obligations with respect to safeguarding, including how to notice signs of abuse, how to deal with disclosures, and the requirement to report concerns.
LCME operates within scope of the University of West London’s Safeguarding Policy which in turn adheres to relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
Any safeguarding concerns or queries should be sent via our contact form and will be addressed promptly by the Head of Exams who is the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) for LCME.
